Bollywood came together in shared heartbreak as the film fraternity, close friends, and family gathered to bid a final goodbye to Dharmendra—an icon whose passing has left a silence that Indian cinema will feel for years.
The He-Man of Bollywood, loved for his charisma, warmth, and unforgettable screen presence, was cremated at the Vile Parle crematorium in Mumbai on Monday afternoon.
As the rituals came to an end, a quiet stillness took over the crowd. Hema Malini, Dharmendra’s wife and one of the industry’s most enduring stars, was seen leaving the crematorium alongside their daughter Esha Deol.
Hema Malini acknowledged the sea of fans and media waiting outside while sitting in the car with her hands folded and wearing a simple pink suit. Her expression conveyed both heartbreak and a graceful sense of dignity.
Esha, holding back tears, also folded her hands in gratitude, silently thanking everyone for the love that continued to pour in.
Amitabh Bachchan arrived with Abhishek Bachchan to pay his respects.
The renowned actor, who had a close relationship with Dharmendra both on and off screen, seemed profoundly touched.
Sanjay Dutt entered as well, stopping momentarily at the door. He had frequently described Dharmendra as a father figure, a man whose warmth never required anything in return and whose kindness required no justification.

Fans were lining the streets outside, holding vintage posters, whispering their favourite lines, and reminiscing with complete strangers.
Dharmendra was that exceptional celebrity who, in spite of his enormous fame, was able to maintain his groundedness and relatability.
The ceremonies inside the crematorium were straightforward and confidential. In order to keep the occasion private and solemn, the family decided not to make any public remarks.
