Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Malayalam film Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life has earned a significant achievement by being selected in the initial round for the 97th Academy Awards. The film is competing in the general category for Best Picture, marking a major milestone as it seeks to secure a place among the top 10 finalists for the final round of nominations.

The voting process for the nominations will begin on January 8, 2025, and will conclude on January 12, 2025. Following the voting period, the top ten films will be selected based on the voting percentages. The official nominations will be revealed on January 17, 2025.

This recognition is particularly notable for director Blessy Ipe Thomas’s film, as Indian films are typically considered for the International Feature Film category. It is rare for an Indian film to be included in the general category, making this a remarkable accomplishment.

In another remarkable achievement, Aadujeevitham has earned a nomination in the Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing – Feature International category at the 72nd Golden Reel Awards. Organized by the Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE), the awards celebrate exceptional contributions in sound editing, sound design, music editing, and foley artistry across film, television, and video games.

Aadujeevitham, also known as The Goat Life, is adapted from the acclaimed novel by Benyamin and stars Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role of Najeeb. The film chronicles the struggles of Najeeb, a goatherd who endures immense hardships as an Indian migrant in the Gulf. The film stars Prithviraj, Amala Paul, Jimmy Jean-Louis, and K.R. Gokul in key roles.
