Shortly after resigning from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Sita Soren officially joined the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) today. Early in the day, the three-time Jama MLA tendered her resignation from all party positions, with just a month left to the Lok Sabha Elections.
Sita Soren is the sister-in-law of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant and also the spouse of the late Durga Soren, the elder brother of the former Chief Minister, who passed away in 2009 at the age of 39.
In her resignation letter written in Hindi, Sita Soren stated that since her husband's demise, she and her family have faced continuous disrespect.

"We have been separated and isolated by members of the party and the family, which has been painful for me," she wrote.
She expressed hope that over time, circumstances would improve. Sita Soren, however, regretted that JMM no longer upholds the legacy her late husband had worked hard to establish.
The former JMM MLA lamented that the current leadership of the party does not share their values and principles.
