Union Home Minister Amit Shah released the BJP's 'Sankalp Patra' ahead of the November 20 elections in Maharashtra on Sunday. Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, state BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar, Union Minister Piyush Goyal and other leaders of the party were present at the occasion.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also present at the occasion along with senior party leaders from the state.
The BJP manifesto promises to hike the monthly assistance under the Ladki Bahin scheme from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,100. It also assures farmers of a hike in loan waiver and says it will ensure food security and proper accommodation if it returns to power. The old age pension will be hiked to Rs 2,100 per month and prices of essential commodities will be stabilised, the manifesto says.
'Vision Maharashtra @2028', the BJP manifesto said, will be presented within 100 days of government formation and the goal is to make Maharashtra a 1 trillion dollar economy. Maharashtra is the largest economy among states and had a GSDP of $435 billion in 2022-23.
“The manifesto reflects the genuine needs and aspirations of the people of Maharashtra. This state is a leader. Even Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj began his journey. This manifesto embodies the spirit of Maharashtra,” Amit Shah said, emphasising the focus on respecting farmers and empowering women to foster a sense of pride.
In another promise focusing on women, the party said 50 lakh women in Maharashtra will become Lakhpati Didis by 2027. The Sankalp Patra also promised efforts to provide AI training in government schools, a skill Census, support to entrepreneurs, financial assistance to students from backward communities and health insurance for the people.
Senior BJP minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, who headed the committee to make the manifesto, emphasised the party's commitment to Maharashtra’s development, highlighting the achievements of the current Mahayuti government.
"This manifesto is dedicated to the people of Maharashtra. Under our leadership, the state's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has seen significant growth. A Mahayuti government is crucial for the state's economic progress. Our double-engine government has been instrumental in enhancing road infrastructure, adding more highways to improve connectivity," Mungantiwar said.
The senior BJP minister also reiterated the party's vision for India's economic growth. "We are committed to achieving a five trillion dollar economy and will honour every promise in this manifesto after securing victory," he stated.
