To facilitate the smooth conduct of the Ganesh idol immersion procession on Saturday, the Hyderabad City Police have announced wide-ranging traffic curbs, which will be in effect from 6 am on September 6 until the evening of September 7, and may be extended if required.

The main immersion procession will start from Balapur and pass through Keshavagiri, Chandrayangutta, Falaknuma, Aliabad, Charminar, Afzalgunj, Abids, Basheerbagh, Liberty, Ambedkar Statue, before reaching Necklace Road via NTR Marg and PVNR Marg. Processions from other areas like Secunderabad, Uppal, Tarnaka, Mehdipatnam, Tolichowki, Erragadda, and Asifnagar will merge with the main route. During the immersion, only vehicles carrying idols will be allowed on these roads.

To ease congestion, vehicle diversions will be enforced at major junctions including Keshavagiri, Chandrayangutta X Road, Moosarambagh, Chaderghat, Afzalgunj, MJ Bridge, Liberty, RTC X Roads, Paradise, Ranigunj, Patny, and Tank Bund. Commuters have been advised to use the
Inner Ring Road, Outer Ring Road, or Masab Tank-Punjagutta-Begumpet-Secunderabad corridor.

Parking facilities for devotees will be made available at NTR Stadium, Public Gardens, Necklace Road (behind Buddha Bhavan), Adarsh Nagar, Khairatabad MMTS station, and the Institute of Engineers premises. Empty lorries after immersion will exit through Necklace Road and Khairatabad flyover. Heavy commercial vehicles, trailers, and construction equipment will not be permitted into the city from 8 am on September 6 to 11 pm on September 7.

RTC bus services will also face restrictions. City services will stop at entry points like Masab Tank, VV Statue, CTO, Tarnaka, Ramanthapur, Gaddi Annaram, and I S Sadan. Inter-state and district buses heading to MGBS will be diverted through routes such as JBS, YMCA, Tarnaka, Vidyanagar, and Chaderghat. Private travel buses will operate from outside city limits.

Special arrangements for immersion

To reduce crowding at major water bodies like Hussainsagar, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has arranged 74 artificial ponds across the city. These include 24 temporary portable water tanks, 23 temporary excavation ponds, and 27 permanent baby ponds.

In addition, immersions will be carried out at 20 major tanks, including Hussainsagar, Saroor Nagar, IDL, and Safilguda. Hyderabad Police Commissioner C V Anand urged the public to cooperate with the arrangements. For assistance, helplines have been set up at 040-278-52482, 871-266-0600, and 901-020-3626.
