In a serious security breach at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, a British national who arrived from Bangkok managed to escape from the immigration area and slip into the city.
The man, identified as Fitz Patrick, a British citizen holding passport number 55819**, has been missing since the incident, which took place on October 28, News18 reported.
According to the officials, Patrick arrived in Delhi around 12 noon on Air India flight AI 333 from Bangkok. He was scheduled to board a connecting Air India flight (AI 117) to London at 2.10 pm the same day. However, after arriving late, he missed his connecting flight and remained in the international transfer area.
The airline staff noticed Patrick was missing the next morning, on October 29, and informed airport authorities. When security teams checked CCTV footage, they found that around 7.30 am, the man had climbed over the e-visa immigration counter and exited the terminal through arrival gate number four.
He was later seen heading toward the city side and boarding an Air India SATS staff ferry bus, according to officials quoted by News18.
Multiple agencies, including the Delhi Police, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and Bureau of Immigration, have launched a search for the missing British passenger. However, despite more than a week of efforts, he has not yet been traced.
Officials said it is still unclear whether Patrick held a valid Indian visa allowing him to leave the airport transit area. Authorities have also not confirmed whether his luggage has been found or if anything suspicious was discovered in it.
