Alleging negligence on the part of the administration and teachers, the parents of the girl lodged a FIR against the school authorities.

A Class IV student died after allegedly falling from the fourth floor of the Neerja Modi School in Jaipur on Saturday. Officials from the Education Department who arrived to investigate were allegedly denied entry as the school management refused to open its gates or cooperate.

According to a report by The Indian Express, the incident took place around 10.30 am. SHO of Mansarovar police station, Lakhan Khatana, told the newspaper: “Prima facie, it appears that the girl died by suicide.”

Alleging negligence on the part of the administration and teachers, the parents of the girl lodged a FIR against the school authorities. “The matter is under investigation,” the police said.

Following the incident, Education Minister Madan Dilawar instructed officials to inspect the school, but the authorities there allegedly refused to cooperate with the visiting team.

Abhishek Jain Bittu, spokesperson of Sanyukta Abhibhavak Sangh, claimed while speaking to IE, “According to the information that we received from students and our sources, the girl was under stress due to the alleged harassment by a teacher, which she never told her parents. She was reluctant to attend school even today. Today, when the alleged harassment continued, she reportedly ran out of her classroom on the first floor and went up to the fourth floor before jumping.”

He also claimed that the school staff cleaned the area where the girl had fallen, erasing the blood stains. “We urge the government to conduct a thorough investigation and take strict action against those responsible,” he said.
