A BMTC (Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation) bus driver allegedly tried to run over a woman after a small accident near Queen’s Circle, close to Cubbon Park in Bengaluru on May 23. The driver of the bus has been suspended by the BMTC while a departmental inquiry is underway, Deccan Herald reported.
The video shared by an X handle Third Eye, is said to be occurred around 5.40 pm on May 23.
The woman, identified as Dr Deekshitha Reddy Y (30), was travelling with her family, which included her father, mother, and brother, when their electric car was slightly hit by the rear side of a BMTC bus. The bus, on route TR 4/9 from JJ Nagar to Nagavara, brushed against the front of her car, damaging the bumper, headlights, and side mirror, according to the report.

Dr Deekshitha got out of her car and stood in front of the bus at a traffic signal near Kasturba Road, trying to stop the driver and question him. However, instead of stopping, the bus kept moving toward her.
In the viral clip, caught on a dashcam video, Dr Deekshitha is seen holding onto the windshield wiper as the bus moves forward. She narrowly escaped serious injury by stepping aside just in time. Her slipper flew off in the process, and a man nearby was heard screaming in panic.
According to her complaint filed at the Cubbon Park traffic police station, the bus driver was driving at high speed and did not stop even after the accident. The police have now booked the driver, Prashanth, who is attached to BMTC’s depot number 17. He faces charges under BNS Section 281 for rash driving and Section 134(a and b) of the Motor Vehicles Act, which mandates drivers to help accident victims and inform the police.
BMTC released a statement confirming the suspension of the driver and assured that strict action would follow based on the inquiry’s results. "Based on initial findings, the driver has been placed under suspension pending further departmental inquiry. The BMTC reiterates its commitment to passenger and public safety and will take necessary disciplinary action based on the outcome of the investigation," the BMTC said in a statement.
