A woman in a Kanpur village bit off part of a man’s tongue after he allegedly molested and forcibly kissed her at a secluded spot, the police confirmed. The man, identified as 35-year-old Champi, was married and was believed to have been involved in a relationship with the woman in the past, a report in the Times of India stated.
According to the police, the woman’s family had recently arranged her marriage, following which she ended all contact with Champi. Officers stated that the man had been distressed about her engagement and had repeatedly attempted to meet her despite her refusal and warnings from her family.
Police said the incident took place when the woman went to the fields. Investigators stated that Champi followed her to the location, approached her, and allegedly grabbedand molested her. The woman reportedly resisted, but the man continued to hold her and attempted to kiss her forcibly.
During the struggle, the woman bit down on his tongue, severing a portion of it. Champi reportedly cried out in pain, and his shouts drew the attention of villagers nearby. Residents alerted his family members, who took him to the local hospital for immediate medical attention. Doctors later referred him to a larger hospital in Kanpur as his condition required further treatment.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Dinesh Tripathi confirmed the sequence of events, stating that a case had been registered against the man, according to NDTV.
In a separate statement, Inspector Ashok Kumar noted that the woman’s relatives had repeatedly instructed the man not to approach her. “He had been cautioned several times, but he returned and repeated the behaviour on Tuesday,” he said, as per Times of India.
After the incident, the woman went home and informed her family, who subsequently filed a complaint with the Bilhaur police station.
