TVS Motor Company on August 22 rolled out its all-new Jupiter 110, which will replace its decade old outgoing version. The petrol-driven scooter is launched at a starting price of Rs 73,700 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and will be available in four variants – Drum, Drum Alloy, Drum SXC and Dis. The second-generation Jupiter by TVS Motor will be pitted against other 110cc ICE scooters such as Honda Activa and Hero Pleasure Plus.
Based on an all-new platform, TVS Jupiter 110 is powered by a 113.3 cc, single cylinder, air-cooled, four- stroke engine, which generates a maximum power of 7.9 bhp at 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 9.8 Nm at 5,000 rpm (with iGO Assist) and 9.2 Nm at 5,000 rpm (without Assist), according to TVS. The company also claimed that it achieves a 10 percent increase in mileage compared to its predecessor due to the IGO Assist technology.
"The All New TVS Jupiter 110 demonstrates our commitment to invest on customer expectations, engineering, technology, design and ergonomics; ahead of the curve. We are confident that this model with its many first-in-segment features will further build our position in the two-wheeler market," said KN Radhakrishnan, Director & CEO, TVS Motor Company. He revealed that the company has invested Rs 150 crore for the development of the next-generation Jupiter.
He also stated that the company has outpaced the industry in scooter sales, reporting a 12 percent growth compared to the industry’s 8 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR).
Aniruddha Haldar, Senior Vice President Head Commuter Business and Head Corporate Brand & Media, TVSM asserted that the TVS Jupiter 110 "has been the anchor" of the company's scooter portfolio for the last decade. "Over time, 6.5 million households have reposed their faith in this product, making it one of the biggest automotive brands out of India," he noted.
TVS also revealed that the new Jupiter has an intelligent ignition system with auto Start-Stop functionality and ISG (Integrated Starter Generator. The product comes in a range of six colours: Dawn Blue Matte, Galactic Copper Matte, Titanium Grey Matte, Starlight blue Gloss, Lunar White Gloss, and Meteor Red Gloss.
The homegrown two-wheeler manufacturer claimed that the new Jupiter 110 comes with many first-in-segment features such as the largest under-seat storage, external fuel-fill in front, mobile charger in front, semi-digital speedometer, with average and real-time mileage indicators and side stand indicator and engine inhibitor, etc.
TVS also revealed that the new Jupiter has an intelligent ignition system with auto Start-Stop functionality and ISG (Integrated Starter Generator. The product comes in a range of six colours: Dawn Blue Matte, Galactic Copper Matte, Titanium Grey Matte, Starlight blue Gloss, Lunar White Gloss, and Meteor Red Gloss.
Meanwhile, the company is also gearing up to launch a 125cc variant of Jupiter in the coming quarters.
