The Ather Rizta is one of the largest-selling electric scooters in India.
To reduce the upfront cost of its electric scooters and address the ownership concerns of customers, Ather Energy today announced three initiatives -- introduction of Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), expansion of the assured buyback programme and launch of an extended comprehensive warranty (ECW).
BaaS to reduce initial cost
Under the BaaS model, customers can purchase the family-oriented Ather Rizta electric scooter starting at Rs 75,999 and the performance-focussed 450 Series of electric scooters from Rs 84,341 (both prices are ex-showroom, Lucknow). The battery is excluded from the initial price, with customers paying for usage under flexible monthly plans starting at Rs 1 per kilometre, based on a 48-month package and a minimum 1,000km monthly usage.
Ather stated that this reduces the Rizta's upfront cost by about 30%. Buyers opting for BaaS will also receive one year of free fast charging at over 3,300 Ather Grid charging points across India.
Buyback programme now available to more customers
Initially launched in February for a limited group, the assured buyback programme now extends to a wider customer base. It offers up to 60% of the scooter's value after three years and up to 50% after four years, depending on kilometres travelled. The scheme aims to provide clarity on resale value in a fast-evolving EV market.
Extended warranty for broader coverage
The ECW plan offers protection against manufacturing defects on the battery and 11 other critical components for up to five years or 60,000km, whichever comes earlier. Covered components include the motor, motor controller, dashboard and charger. The warranty is available to all AtherStack Pro customers.
