Dhampur Sugar has announced its results for Q4FY09. Its full year profit after tax has increased to Rs 56.18 crore as against Rs 3.6 crore for the year ending 2008. It reported total sales in Q4 of Rs 292 crore and a profit after tax of Rs 13.85 crore.
In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Gaurav Goel, Managing Director, Dhampur Sugars, spoke about the company’s results and his outlook for the company and the sector.
Here is a verbatim transcript:
Q: I just have your full year sales numbers Rs 948 crore. Could you start by giving me the PAT number for the full year?
A: Yes. The profit after tax (PAT) for the full year is RS 56.18 crore vis-à-vis Rs 3.6 crore for last year, for the year ending ’08.
Q: That is the full year number. What are the Q4 numbers sales and profit?
A: In Q4 our total sales was Rs 292 crore and profit after tax was Rs 13.85 crore.
Q: What does the full year earnings per share work out to? Last year you had 4.16 as EPS, what is this year’s number?
A: Last year’s EPS was 0.64 paise for the whole year. This year’s EPS is Rs 10.6.
Q: At the end of Q3 you had inventories of about 1.4 lakh tonne. Has that all being sold?
A: No. We still have about 46,000 tonne in stock as of September 30.
Q: What have average realisations been like in the fourth quarter?
A: Rs 28 per kilograms was our average sale price.
Q: Can you give us any sense of what you booked from the Cogen and Ethanol revenues?
A: On the Cogen side there was hardly any sales during Q4 and same on the chemical side also. There were hardly any sales during Q4. So, most of the sales came out of our sugar side.
