A blogger from Navi Mumbai, Yogesh Alekari, on a solo round-the-world tour, expressed his frustration after his motorbike, carrying his passport and belongings, was stolen from a park in Nottingham, United Kingdom.
The 33-year-old remarked on the British police’s inability to prevent the theft, adding that “had it happened to any foreigner in India, the government would have left no stone unturned to find it.”
The incident marked an unexpected setback for the Mumbai biker, who had been traveling solo around the world.
“In this journey, my bike was everything—my dream, my soul, my passion; it was my home, and now my home has been stolen," said Alekari with a heavy heart, who was on a solo world tour on his bike, having so far travelled 25,000 kilometres in four months.
“It was a fully loaded bike. I have lost everything. I have just my riding jacket, riding shoes and helmet. I am on a tourist visa, and there is no safety or security in this country for tourists. If this incident had happened with any foreigner in India, the entire police force and the Indian government would have left no stone unturned to investigate the matter and catch the thieves. I am going through the worst time of my life," he added.
The incident occurred on August 28 when Alekari, while visiting a friend in Nottingham, parked his KTM 390 Adventure bike in a paid area at Wollaton Park and went for breakfast.
When Alekari contacted the police, he was provided a crime number, but no officers arrived at the scene.
“The incident was also captured on camera by some girls who were present at the spot,” he added.
