Months after India’s Operation Sindoor precision strikes demolished Pakistani terror infrastructure, terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) has launched a major fundraising campaign aimed at reviving and expanding its network of training camps and safe houses, according to an India Today report.
On May 7, Indian forces carried out targeted strikes under Operation Sindoor, destroying nine terror launch pads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). More than 100 terrorists were killed in the operation, which was conducted in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
Now, intelligence inputs accessed by India Today suggest that JeM is making a determined push to recover. The outfit has reportedly set a target of 3.91 billion Pakistani rupees to establish 313 new “markaz” across Pakistan. These facilities are expected to serve as both training hubs for fresh recruits and secure hideouts for JeM chief Masood Azhar and his family.
The fundraising drive is being personally spearheaded by Azhar -- the mastermind of several major attacks on Indian soil -- along with his brother Talha Al Saif, who has been publicly urging followers to contribute.
To avoid detection, JeM is using digital payment platforms such as EasyPaisa and SadaPay, linking accounts to mobile numbers associated with Azhar’s relatives, including his son Abdullah Azhar, India Today reported. Alongside online collections, JeM commanders are also soliciting donations at mosques every Friday prayers, masking them as contributions for humanitarian aid in Gaza.
The Al Rahmat Trust, a Bahawalpur-based charity long known to be a JeM front, is playing a central role by routing money through a dedicated bank account controlled by Azhar’s close associates.
According to India Today, the campaign has already seen considerable success, drawing funds from donors inside Pakistan as well as overseas networks. These resources are now reportedly being channelled into weapons procurement, including machine guns, rocket launchers, and mortars.
With its arsenal replenished and a growing network of camps, JeM is believed to be preparing for a renewed wave of terror attacks in the region — a development that has raised alarm in Indian security circles about the risk of fresh instability.
