Ride-sharing platform has introduced a new payment method for users that allows them to simply scan a QR code and make payments using UPI apps. The feature, dubbed as “UPI Scan and Pay”, is now rolling out to all users across the country on both iOS and Android versions of the app.

What is the UPI Scan and Pay feature in the Uber app?
The feature, as the name implies, allows users to make payments by simply scanning the QR code using the UPI app of their choice like Paytm, GPay, BHIM, PhonePe, Amazon Pay, etc

The feature works in a way that we scan a QR code on a local shop or from friend’s phone to make the payment.

How does it make payments easier?
Uber’s new 'UPI Scan and Pay' feature simplifies ride payments by letting users pay directly via any UPI-enabled app. At the end of a ride, the driver displays a unique UPI QR code on their Uber app.

Riders can scan this code using apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, or Paytm to complete the transaction securely. This eliminates the need for cash or linking payment methods within Uber itself, making the experience both convenient and flexible.

Users benefit from faster checkouts, digital receipts, and added safety since payments go directly to Uber, not personal driver accounts. The process ensures clarity on fare amounts and reduces payment disputes.

With just a few taps, riders enjoy a seamless and secure transaction experience, all while staying within their preferred UPI platform. It’s a quicker, safer, and hassle-free way to wrap up your ride.
