FallOut 76’s Skyline Valley expansion came out last week, on June 12. It’s the sixth expansion Bethesda’s open-world game has got so far and is Appalachia’s first-ever map expansion.
In fact, Skyline Valley happens to be the first major expansion of FallOut 76’s world map. The FallOut TV show on Amazon has also been received well, which has revitalised the interest of its fan base about the future of the series. “When are we going to get Fallout 5?”, most of them must have wondered, considering Fallout 4 came out way back, in 2015.
According to a report by VG247, based on their interview with Fallout 76 lead producer Bill LaCoste, the Fallout devs have a long-term plan for Fallout 76. He reportedly said that he doesn’t think that they are expected to make Fallout 76 serve as a bridge between Fallout 4 and Fallout 5.
The report also states him as saying that should Bethesda bring Fallout 5, people will go ahead and play it, but at the same time, there will be others who’ll keep playing 76 as well. Lacoste also reportedly added that he would leave discussing Fallout 5 to Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Howard, when he’s ready to.
Considering that there are players who keep coming back to play Fallout 3 and older Fallout games as well, Bethesda can take its time before bringing another mainline game to the Fallout universe. For the moment, it seems like different Fallout experiences are here to stay, since the open world of the post-apocalyptic video game series has seen quite a number of explorers over the years, who aren’t finished with their adventures yet.
