AMD unveils Zen 5 AI CPUs and Radeon Pro W7900 dual slot GPU at Computex 2024

AMD has introduced its latest Zen 5 CPUs, including Ryzen 9000 series desktop processors and Ryzen AI 300 series processors with Radeon Pro W7900 at the ongoing Computex 2024.

AMD has announced their next-generation AI-powered Zen 5 desktop and mobile processors at the Computex 2024 keynote in Taipei. Dr Lisa Su, President and CEO of AMD, unveiled the new AMD Ryzen AI 300 series mobile chipsets and the Ryzen 9000 series desktop processors, which are equipped with the most powerful neural processing unit (NPU) in the world for next-generation AI PCs.

The US-based firm also announced the Radeon PRO W7900 Dual Slot workstation graphics card at the same event. It is a model update of the current flagship Radeon PRO W7900 workstation graphics card

AMD Ryzen AI 3000 series processors: Key details

The new Ryzen AI 3000 series is a laptop processor lineup that comprises two models, namely the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and the AMD Ryzen AI 9 365. They come equipped with a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU) capable of performing 50 trillion operations per second.

The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 is a slightly more powerful chipset, as it has 20% higher counts of cores and threads and a 6% larger total cache size. Both these chipsets have integrated graphics support. These processors will also support the new Copilot+, which was recently introduced by Microsoft.

AMD Ryzen 9000 series processor: Key details

AMD also revealed its latest Ryzen 9000 series desktop processors at the Computex 2024 event. The Ryzen 9 9950X is the flagship processor from the 900 series, with AMD touting it as the fastest consumer-grade desktop CPU worldwide.

The other three chipsets named Ryzen 9 9900X, Ryzen 7 9700X, and Ryzen 5 9600X also offer major improvements in both speed and efficiency compared to their predecessors. All these processors will officially hit the market in July 2024.

AMD Radeon PRO W7900 Dual Slot Workstation GPU: Key details

AMD’s latest dual-slot workstation GPU, the Radeon PRO W7900 has an impressive 48GB GDDR6 ECC of combined video memory. It’s the newest addition to AMD's RDNA 3 line of professional-grade GPUs and is being positioned as an AI-focused GPU solution.

The GPU has 96 Compute Units (CUs), 96 Ray Accelerators, 192 AI Accelerators, and 6144 Stream Processors. Further, it has 48 GB of GDDR6 ECC memory.
