Sami Zayn, Bron Breakker, and Jey Uso: WWE struggles to find ideal Gunther replacement (WWE)

Sami Zayn, Bron Breakker, and Jey Uso, these are three WWE superstars, who have now held the Intercontinental title post Gunther's historic reign. The "Ring General" held the championship for 666 days, which is so far the longest by any wrestler in the history of WWE. The previous record was held by WWE Hall of Famer The Honky Tonk Man, who kept the belt for 454 days (from June 1987 to August 1988).

During his reign Gunther defeated a host of superstars, which includes WWE legend Rey Mysterio, Sheamus, among others. Gunther was eventually dethroned by Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 40, held earlier this year. However, ever since WWE is struggling to find a superstar, who can create an equal impact, and the title has been swapped to three superstars in the span of six months.

Gunther, on the other hand, is carving out a new legacy with the Heavyweight title, which he won by defeating Damian Priest at WWE SummerSlam. The win came in a controversial manner but it gave path to new and intriguing storyline, involving The Judgement Day. Gunther, meanwhile, has defended the heavyweight crown against "Legend Killer" Randy Orton, and is ready to take on familiar foe Sami Zayn at WWE's next pay-per-view event Bad Blood, which is scheduled for October 5.

Meanwhile, if we shift focus to the Intercontinental title, Sami carried the belt for 118 days before dropping it against Bron at WWE SummerSlam. The two shared an intense feud, with Sami also defending the gold against the second-generational wrestler. For those who are not aware of Bron's wrestling background, he is the son of Rick Steiner and the nephew of Scott Steiner a.k.a "Big Poppa Pump".

Bron, also a two-time NXT champion, failed to keep the title for less than two months (51 days in total). Considering the push he received and the impact he brings, the title reign will surely go down as a disappointing one. He lost the belt to "Main Event" Jey Uso in the previous episode of Monday Night Raw, which was the latter's first single title in his 14-year association with the company. Jey is mostly known for his tag-team reigns with twin brother Jimmy and it'll be interesting what plans WWE have in store for the new Intercontinental champion.

Going by the current trend, Jey has often been seen assisting "Terror Twins" Priest and Rhea Ripley in their feud against the revamped Judgement Day faction, which has current WWE Women's World Champion Liv Morgan, her on-screen partner Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, Carlito, and JD McDonagh.
