Liverpool forward Diogo Jota tragically lost his life in a car accident in northwestern Spain, and early findings suggest he may have been speeding at the time of the crash, according to a preliminary report released by local police on Tuesday.
Authorities stated that forensic experts are currently examining tire marks on the road, which may indicate that a burst tire combined with high speed contributed to the fatal incident. Once the investigation is finalized, the police report will be submitted to the local court before being made public.

Jota, aged 28, was driving a Lamborghini when the vehicle went off the road and caught fire shortly after midnight on Thursday. His brother, Andre Silva, a footballer for Penafiel in Portugal’s second division, was also in the car. Both were killed in the crash.
Reports suggest the brothers were en route to catch a ferry in Spain that would take them to the United Kingdom.
News of Jota’s passing sent shockwaves through the football world and beyond, sparking an outpouring of tributes from teammates, international players, and political leaders alike.
The funeral took place on Saturday in Gondomar, their hometown in northern Portugal, where fans and family gathered to pay their respects.
