Crawley and Duckett achieved the milestone during the fifth and final match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against India at The Oval on Friday (August 1).

England openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett continued their fine form in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, becoming the second opening pair to register as many as eight 50-plus partnerships against India in Test cricket. Crawley and Duckett equalled the record of West Indies greats Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes, who had also registered eight 50-plus partnerships against India.

Crawley and Duckett achieved this milestone during the fifth and final match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against India at The Oval on Friday.

Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss added 932 runs in 20 innings against India, while Duckett and Crawley combined for 984 runs in 18 innings – the most by an England opening pair.

In the current Test series against India, Duckett is the second-highest run scorer for England. He has amassed 408 runs in 8 innings at an average of 51.00, including two fifties and a hundred.

Crawley, on the other hand, has got starts in the series but hasn't turned them into significant runs; he has amassed 264 runs at an average of 37.71 in eight innings, including three fifties.

The swashbuckling start meant that England raced to a team total of 51 in seven overs - the joint quickest 50 by a team against India in their first innings. Australia also scored 51 at the end of the seventh over at the WACA in 2011/12.

Though England lost Duckett (43) with 92 runs on the board, the blazing start took them to 101 runs in 14.4 overs – the third quickest team hundred by a team against India behind Australia’s 14.0 overs at the WACA in 2011/12 and Bangladesh’s 14.1 overs at Mirpur in 2007.

Earlier, Gus Atkinson took 5/33 as India were bowled out for 224 runs in their first innings.
