India's team selections have been the subject of numerous discussions recently. The selection process has been the subject of discussion, with supporters frequently accusing the present committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, of favoring some players while disregarding others.

The followers of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been particularly incensed. There have been calls for Sharma's removal since he was stripped of the ODI captaincy and Agarkar said that the two players' performances were what allowed them to join the 2027 World Cup squad.

While sharing the commentary box with Ravi Shastri, Mark Waugh fueled these allegations during the second ODI between Australia and India, which is currently taking place at the Adelaide Oval.

Mark Waugh said, “Chairman of selectors replaced, did I read that somewhere?” To which Ravi Shastri firmly replied, “No”. This was to stop such speculation.

Waugh said that he might have come across the news on Twitter, where it appeared that Ravi Shastri had been appointed head of the selectors. The Indian commentator responded by emphasizing that there was no evidence to support such accusations and that Waugh's source was unreliable.

Meanwhile, In the meantime, India posted a competitive 264/9 thanks to former captain Rohit Sharma's cautious 73 and Shreyas Iyer's 61.

Sent into bat, Rohit earned his runs off 97 balls with two hits over the fence and seven boundaries, while Iyer scored his runs off 77 deliveries, including seven fours.

Virat Kohli, the other comeback man, made a golden duck. In addition to Rohit and Iyer, Axar Patel contributed with a strong hand of 44 off 41 balls.

Arshdeep Singh (13) and Harshit Rana (24 not out) shared a crucial 37-run partnership for the ninth wicket towards the end, which helped India reach the competitive total.

Right-arm medium pacer Xavier Bartlett took three wickets for 39 runs, including the valuable scalp of Kohli, while leg-spinner Adam Zampa took four wickets for 60 runs in his ten overs for Australia. India lost the rain-affected first ODI by 7 wickets via DLS method, putting them behind 0-1 in the three-match series.
