The future of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma has been under heavy scrutiny considering the duo now only play the ODIs. Despite being regarded as the best players in the format, and having expressed strong desire to play in the next World Cup slated for 2027, the BCCI have remained non-committal on their participation in the marquee tournament.
While uncertainty still looms, Rohit and Kohli have ensured fingers aren't pointed at them on the basis of performance and things were no different on Sunday. The duo ran the show for a significant part of the Indian innings in the first ODI against South Africa in Ranchi before Kohli took matters in his own hands.
Kohli completed his 52nd ODI ton and accumulated 135 off 120 balls to put on a spectacular show that featured eleven 4s and seven 6s. Kohli took 102 balls to reach the triple-digit mark, which he did by gently pushing a length ball outside off by Marco Jansen for a boundary towards third-man.

The talisman celebrated the milestone by punching his hand in the air, giving Ranchi a treat in possibly his final international appearance at the JDCA Stadium. While Kohli rejoicing the moment was expected to spread like wildfire on social media, unexpectedly another clip featuring Rohit celebrating the moment also got internet buzzing.
In the clip doing rounds on social media Rohit can be seen at his animated best, probably hurling an expletive too, but all in good spirits. Here are a few reactions:

Sometimes emotions just hit differently. This is Rohit Sharma. For Virat Kohli. From a lot of Indian cricket fans as well for the directionless cricket board and management, I guess. #IndVsSA pic.twitter.com/NqhFG8rHVn— Nikhil Kharoo (@nkharoo) November 30, 2025

Earlier, the duo combined to continue from where they left in Australia and stitched 136 runs off 109 balls for the second wicket. The partnership was broken by Marco Jansen, who trapped Rohit LBW on 57(51). Rohit's knock, which featured five 4s and three 6s, saw him overtake former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi in list of batters with most sixes in ODIs.
