Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir are not the best of friends, something which is evident from the multiple confrontations we've witnessed between the two in the past. However, with Gambhir now being appointed as the new head coach, the duo will now be seen working together, with the first assignment being the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka.
Kohli, who recently announced retirement from the shorter format, is part of India's ODI squad against the island nation and ahead of that the former India skipper has communicated to BCCI that he's ready to begin this new journey with a clean slate.
If we rewind to the past, Kohli and Gambhir once shared the Indian dressing room together and were part of the 2011 World Cup-winning batch. In fact Gambhir had once presented his Player of the Match award to Kohli, when the latter smashed his maiden ODI ton.

However, over the years, the two were also seen getting into heated arguments in between IPL matches, passing the narrative that they are not the best of friends. However, in the previous edition of the lucrative T20 league, Gambhir and Kohli shared a warm moment, thus putting an end to any such notions.
Now as per a report in Cricbuzz, Kohli has told BCCI that he will not allow the past differences between the two "affect their professional relationship in the dressing room." The message by Kohli was communicated to relevant BCCI officials. The report also mentioned that the discussions on the same were held after the T20 World Cup final.

If we look at the nature of the two, they never hesitate to show their emotions, even in the public eye. Both are from Delhi and their aggression is well known among fans.
However, it will be interesting to see the two prominent figures of Indian cricket work together again, but this time in the capacity of a coach and player.
