Uddhav Thackeray threatens massive protest on IND-PAK match

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray took a aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the scheduled India-Pakistan clash at the ongoing Asia Cup in Dubai. India is set to clash with Pakistan on Sunday. Making his stance clear on the cricket match, which has witnessed massive backlash, Thackeray even threatened that the party workers, particularly the women, will "come out on the streets in Maharashtra". He also took a jab at PM Modi by referring to the Operation Sindoor and said the women workers will "send Sindoor from every house to PM Modi."

The tension between the neighbours have been on the high after the Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. The Indian Armed Forces in retaliation launched Operation Sindoor, targeting terror outfits in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The army conflict between the two countries almost snowballed into a war-like situation before a ceasefire was announced.

"Our Prime Minister said blood and water cannot flow together, then how can blood and cricket flow together. How can war and cricket be at the same time?" - questioned Thackeray while speaking to reporters in Mumbai on Saturday. He added: "They have done business in patriotism. The business of patriotism is only for money. They are going to play the match tomorrow also because they want all the money they will get from that match. Tomorrow, Shiv Sena (UBT) women workers will come out on the streets in Maharashtra and they are going to send Sindoor from every house to PM Modi."

Aaditya Thackeray, his son and Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA, slammed the BCCI on the same. He questioned why India is not boycotting the matches against Pakistan, as they didn't participate in the recently concluded Men's Hockey Asia Cup hosted by India in Rajgir, Bihar.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Raut, another Shiv Sena (UBT) MP, also called for a protest with the name 'Sindoor Raksha Abhiyaan' against the Asia Cup encounter. Raut questioned if the "blood" and "water" cannot flow together, then how can "blood" and "cricket" work together?

"We will protest against this India-Pakistan cricket match. Women will come on the streets, and our campaign is 'Sindoor Raksha Abhiyan'. You said that water and blood will not flow together. If water and blood will not flow together, then how will blood and cricket work together? This is treason, shamelessness," Sanjay Raut told reporters.
