Rohit Sharma is grinding behind the scenes ahead of his much-anticipated ODI return, and as per Abhishek Nayar the ODI skipper has already shed 10 kgs. Nayar shared a photo of Rohit post a training session, where he confirmed the same. “10,000 grams later, we keep pushing,” he wrote in the caption.
Rohit is expected to be at the ODI helm when the Men In Blue travel to Australia for a full-fledged white-ball series next month. India will engage in three ODIs and five T20Is as the action Down Under starts from October 19.
The series gets underway with the ODIs, with matches scheduled to be played at Perth, Adelaide, and Sydney on October 19, 23, and 25 respectively. The T20Is will start from October 29 and will conclude on November 8.

Rohit's last appearance in Indian colours was during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, when India won their second ICC title under his leadership. Following that he played in the IPL and midway during the season he announced his retirement from Test cricket. Rohit has already retired from T20Is, which he did after guiding India to their second World T20 title.
Before the Asia Cup 2025, a report had emerged of the premier batter acing the fitness test at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.

It was earlier being reported that the series against Australia would be Rohit's final in Indian colours. Even Virat Kohli, who has also announced retirements from T20Is and Test, was stated to meet with a similar fate.
However, both cricketing icons are yet to publicly address the rumours.
