Caught and bowled is one of the toughest thing to do and on many occasions we see bowlers drop even the simplest of catch on their followthrough. The reaction time is little, particularly for a fast bowler, and it is understanable if the ball pops out of their hands. However, Pat Cummins defied the odds and produced a stunning caught and bowled effort in the ongoing second Test between West Indies and Australia at St Georges, Grenada.
Cummins produced the effort in the 9th over, dismissing Keacy Carty for 6(12). The Australian skipper dropped a length ball, which took an inside edge of Carty's bat and hit his thigh pads, following which the ball ballooned in the air momentarily. Cummins showing great game awareness chased after it and completed the catch right when the ball was about to hit the ground. What was even more incredible was the fact that the right-arm pacer then bowling from over the stumps ran across the pitch towards silly mid-on and put in a dive along with full length body slide before plucking it safely with one hand.
Ian Bishop, cricketer-turned-commentator, then on-air remarked: "It's a brilliant catch. Absolutely terrific from the Australian captain. It is an athletic effort of the highest class."

That is so far the only wicket Cummins picked so far in West Indies' first innings, who had lost their fourth wicket at 111. Brandon King is leading the charge at the moment and has completed his half-century. Meanwhile, Josh Hazlewood has made two inroads as West Indies hope for a strong response from their batters. Australia were skittled for 286 in the first innings with Beau Webster and Alex Carey's half-centuries proving to be handy. Alzarri Joseph had then emerged as the standout bowler from the Windies camp, registering four scalps.
Meanwhile, Australia lead 1-0 in the three-match series, winning the series opener in Barbados by 159 runs. However, the match was marred with controversial umpiring decisions, particularly by third umpire Adrian Holdstock.
