Indian spinner R Ashwin has called Jasprit Bumrah as a 'once-in-a-generation-bowler' and praised him stating that he is the most valuable player for Team India at the present time.

Jasprit Bumrah will be making his return to the team after his wonderful performance in the T20 World Cup tournament after much deserved rest to the pacer. Bumrah has been named in the Indian side which will take on the Bangladesh in a two-test series to start on September 19 with the first Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Ashwin was speaking on the YouTube channel of Vimal Kumar where he asserted that India has always been a batsman-dominated country and we should celebrate the evolution of star Indian pacer. Calling Bumrah as the most valuable player, Ashwin said that he wins matches for the team with his performance.

"India has always been the country that is a batsman-dominated country, and it's never going to change. But I am so glad and happy that we are celebrating Jasprit Bumrah. Jasprit Bumrah is a once-in-a-generation bowler. We should celebrate him even more," Ashwin said.

"We Chennai people appreciate bowlers a lot. He was here for an event as a chief guest 4-5 days ago. We gave him a Rajni treatment. We (Chennai people) treat bowlers very nicely. He should be treated as a champion. I don't want to name, but Jasprit Bumrah is the most valuable Indian cricketer right now," he added.

Bumrah has so far played 36 Test matches with 159 wickets to his name after making his debut in 2018. The second Test of the India-Bangladesh series will start on September 27 in Kanpur.
