11 people were killed and 33 injured in a stampede outside Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium during the RCB's victory celebrations on Wednesday. A day later, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had asked that the RCB, DNA, and Karnataka State Cricket Association executives be taken into custody.
A number of high-ranking police officers, including Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda, were also suspended, according to the state administration.
To look into the matter, a one-person judicial commission has also been established. Justice Michael D'Cunha, a retired judge from the Karnataka High Court, is in charge of it.
The deadline for the commission's report is 30 days. They also asked that the RCB representative, DNA event managers, and the KSCA representative be arrested right away by the state's IGP and DGP.
RCB won the IPL 2025 championship on Tuesday. They defeated the Punjab Kings in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium to win the tournament and snap their trophy drought.
In Bengaluru, a parade was announced after this triumph. Permission for the same was first denied by the Bengaluru Police. On social media, however, RCB said that the parade would start at 3 PM and go from the Vidhana Soudha to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
RCB is facing a lot of criticism for carrying on with the festivities inside the stadium in spite of the stampede outside.
Financial assistance for each of the 11 families who lost a family member in the stampede was announced by RCB on Thursday. For the benefit of the 33 more injured, the team has also established a fund called "RCB Cares."
