With some daring knocks, 14-year-old phenom Vaibhav Suryavanshi of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) has lit up the 2025 Indian Premier League. Suryavanshi made his debut by hitting a six off the first ball of the competition.
He hit the fastest-ever century by an Indian in IPL history two games later. But after being sent off in his first match, Suryavanshi was observed wiping his eyes, which raised the possibility that he had shed a tear or two. The teenager has now acknowledged whether or not he cried after leaving the crease.

After the Punjab Kings (PBKS) vs Rajasthan Royals game on Sunday, Suryavanshi spoke to Musheer Khan and explained exactly what transpired.
"When did I cry? Let me explain. My eyes were hurting a lot. When I got out, I looked at the big screen and the light hit my eyes. So I had to rub my eyes," Suryavanshi said, in a video posted on social media by RR.
"When I went out, people started asking why I cried. I didn't cry! My eyes were hurting," Suryavanshi said.

With a spectacular 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans (GT), Suryavanshi demonstrated his destructive power after hitting an incredible 20-ball 34 in his first innings for the Rajasthan Royals. He thereby became the youngest player in IPL history to hit a hundred.

In an otherwise terrible campaign, Suryavanshi's rise has been one of RR's few bright spots. RR is now second from the bottom of the league standings after losing 10 of their 13 games in IPL 2025.
Suryavanshi once again displayed his amazing talent on Sunday, scoring a daring 40 off just 15 balls. The teenager built up an opening partnership of 76 in less than five overs with Yashasvi Jaiswal by hitting four boundaries and four sixes, scoring all of his runs off boundaries.
Nevertheless, Suryavanshi's efforts were in vain as the Rajasthan Royals lost by 10 runs in yet another run chase.
