Two years after MS Dhoni won his first IPL championship, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was born in Samastipur, Bihar, which is close to Dhoni's hometown Ranchi. During Dhoni's childhood, Ranchi and Samastipur were part of the same state, Bihar. Belonging to the same state is not a prerequisite for admiring MS Dhoni. Suryavanshi grew up (and continues to grow up) hearing and seeing stories about Dhoni, much like millions of other aspiring Indian cricket players. Referring to Dhoni as Suryavanshi's father figure wouldn't be an exaggeration.
The 14-year-old touching Dhoni's feet following the Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals match at the Arun Jaitely Stadium in New Delhi merely served to confirm the truth. Yashavi Jaiswal, who is currently Suryavanshi's senior opening partner at RR and has solidified his position in the Indian Test team, was that player a few years ago. It was Suryavanshi on Tuesday.
The incident took place when players from both sides were taking part in the post-match ritual of shaking hands and exchanging pleasantries. When it was Suryavanshi's turn to shake hands with Dhoni, he leaned forward and used one hand to touch the CSK captain's foot as the latter quickly held the other with a sly smile. Videos and pictures of Suryavnashi touching Dhoni's feet didn't take long to spread like wildfire on social media.

The fact that the occasion arrived after Suryavanshi cleared the path for RR with a mature knock of 57 runs would mean a lot to the young player. The 14-year-old, the Royals' season-ending discovery in an otherwise forgettable campaign, once again delivered a brave show during his 33-ball knock.
Meanwhile, RR concluded their miserable season on a positive note by defeating CSK by six wickets in their final league fixture.
