IPL 2025: CSK vs MI Top Highlights: The Indian Premier League (2025) saw Chennai Super Kings (CSK) win the first chapter of the El Clasico at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday. The match witnessed Mumbai Indians (MI) struggle with the bat only to be rescued by tail-ender Deepak Chahar towards the end. With the ball too, MI were mostly ineffective until their debutant Vignesh Punthur brought some life in what otherways was an one-sided affair.

Rohit failed to trouble the scorers and in the process now finds himself in the list of players with most ducks in the IPL. Rohit now has 18 ducks in the T20 tournament, which is the most by any player in the history of IPL. Only Dinesh Karthik and Glenn Maxwell have the same number of ducks in the tournament.

A late cameo by Deepak Chahar, former CSK player, helped MI post a respectable 155/9 after they were invited to bat. Chahar returned unbeaten on 28 off 15 balls, giving himself and other bowlers something to defend. Chahar also helped MI inflict an early jolt but MI failed to capitalise and surrendered in front of Ruturaj Gaikwad. The Yellow Army surprised most by tweaking their opening combination and promoted impact substitute Rahul Tripathi above Gaikwad. However, Chahar foiled CSK's experiment and packed Tripathi for 2(3).

Gaikwad took the game away from MI by hammering 53 off 26 balls, which also saw him complete his fastest half-century in the IPL. However, MI debutant Vignesh Puthur crashed the CSK party and picked three wickets (Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, and Deepak Hooda) in as many overs to bring his side back in the contest.

Rachin Ravindra emerged as the unsung hero as he returned unbeaten on 65 off 45 balls, standing firm while wickets kept tumbling at the other end in the 156-run chase, which CSK eventually completed with five balls to spare.

As the players engaged in post-match rituals, Vignesh and MS Dhoni shared a heart-warming moment, which was an instant hit among fans on social media. A video of the two went viral in which the 24-year-old Kerala spinner can be seen going star-struck upon getting a chance to interact with Dhoni. The CSK gloveman's reception towards the rookie made the sight more beautiful as Dhoni patted him on the back.
