RR vs KKR: Rajasthan Finish Third

Persistent rain forced the abandonment of the final group stage match, dampening spirits. Rajasthan, despite securing third place with a solitary point, find themselves deflated due to a lower net run rate compared to victorious Hyderabad. This pushes them down a spot and faces them with a confident Bengaluru in the Eliminator, a daunting prospect after their recent losing streak.

Kolkata, too, have suffered weather disruptions but remain optimistic as they prepare for a crucial Qualifier 1 clash against Hyderabad, promising an electrifying encounter for fans. The season's 70 group matches complete, the playoffs now head to Ahmedabad. In a touching gesture, Rajasthan players acknowledged the crowd with a lap of honour. The high-stakes Qualifier 1 between Kolkata and Hyderabad kicks off on Tuesday, 21st May at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT)

Use of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Points Table in IPL is as old as the IPL itself. The significance of the IPL Points Table, too, has remained consistent since the first edition of the IPL in 2008. Here's how it works: Each IPL team plays every other team twice. Every time a team wins an IPL match, it adds two points to its tally on the IPL Points Table. At the end of the league matches, the top four teams in the table qualify for play-offs. From thereon, the top two teams move into the finals. The net run rate or NRR comes into play in the event that two or more teams have the same number of points on the IPL Points Table. Here's how the NRR is calculated: Both the rate at which a team scores and the rate at which its opposing team scores matter. NRR is calculated by subtracting the rate at which a team leaks runs from the rate at which it makes them. NRR can go below zero. Another thing to keep in mind is that the fair play awards does not factor into net run rate: The fair play award is given to the IPL team that follows the rules most closely. While it should give a big morale boost to IPL players and the IPL team's brand, it does not affect the NRR.

While a high net run rate indicates that a team has performed better than its competition in most league matches, it has not been a good predictor for which team wins in the final. IPL winners and their net run rate that year:

NRR is different from NR or N/R which stands for no result - usually owing to inability to finish a match. For instance, in case of rain. Here's how net run rate calculator with wickets: The important factors that go into calculating NRR are runs scored, runs leaked, overs faced and overs bowled. A simple calculation for NRR is to divide the runs scored by the team by the overs faced. Say this figure is A. Now divide runs scored by the opposition by the overs bowled by your team. Say this figure is B. Your team's NRR is A-B.
