India have already qualified for the Super Eights from Group A alongside the USA, who made their entry into the next round after their contest against Ireland was washed out thanks to the thunderstorms in Lauderhill, Florida. India are on top of their game and Group A, and before boarding their flight to the Caribbean islands, they have one last step to take. They lock horns with Canada in Lauderhill, but it remains to be seen whether or not the rain gods allow the contest to take place.
In their last match against the USA, India initially restricted the hosts to 110-8 in 20 overs, with Hardik Pandya scalping 2-14 and Arshdeep Singh having brilliant figures of 4-9. While walking in to chase, fans must have thought the match would be a one-sided affair. Little did they know the USA would put on a brilliant show to take the match down to the wire, thanks to Saurabh Netravalkar’s incredible bowling – he picked up the wickets of both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in his opening burst.
On the other hand, Canada’s campaign fizzled out following a seven-wicket loss to Pakistan who have also been knocked out of the tournament. Victory over a far more experienced Irish team was a highlight, but ultimately failure to defend 194 against the USA hampered any hopes of Canada any chance of making further progress.
IND vs CAN Weather Forecast
All said and done, the match is unlikely to take place after heavy rains the previous night that completely drenched the outfield. With poor drainage and more rain predicted in the forecast, it’s a game of chance. Two matches scheduled at the venue have already been washed out.
IND vs CAN Pitch Report
With all the rain over the past few days, it is to be seen how the surface at Lauderhill will react. The pitch, otherwise, has seen matches with an average score of 165, but the dampness that is sure to have seeped in could result in vastly different conditions.
