Rohit Sharma may not have played competitive cricket between‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ June and mid-October but his performance in Australia clearly indicated that he still has a lot of cricket left in him. His comeback innings was quite impressive, he scored a hard-fought 73 in Adelaide and followed it up with an emphatic 121* in Sydney.

The two knocks in Australia were not just a reflection of his class but also the hard work he put in before the series. His friend Abhishek Nayar, who's also India's ex-batting coach revealed the process and hardwork the 38-year-old put in. He also said that Sharma will not stop here and his next goal will be the next ODI series in India.

In an interview with JioHotstar after the Australia ODI series, Nayar said that Rohit would be very happy with his batting performance but fitness-wise, he would still want to achieve more. The senior opener can drop a few more kilograms before the next series.

“Rohit Sharma will be a relieved man on his flight back to India. He gave up his favourite meal and the results are visible. The next series is in a month's time and don't be surprised if he loses a few more kilos by then," he said.

Another highlight of Rohit Sharma’s match-winning knock was his partnership with veteran batter Virat Kohli. It was their first century stand since January 2020. Kohli scored 74 alongside Rohit which helped India chase 237 comfortably.
