Iceland combines festivals, spas and dramatic settings
On Iceland’s Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Olafsvik promises two minutes and four seconds of totality. Tours will guide visitors to the fishing village, with expert advice on eclipse photography.
The Iceland Eclipse Festival in Hellissandur will run until 15 August. The event will host more than 100 artists and speakers, including astronauts and musicians, with capacity for over 3,000 guests.
For those preferring relaxation, the Blue Lagoon will provide one minute and 32 seconds of totality. Guests can bathe in geothermal waters while watching the sun disappear.
Greenland offers rare expedition eclipse cruises
In Greenland, Ponant’s Le Lyrial expedition cruise will offer a dramatic view above Scoresby Sound, the world’s largest fjord system. The two-week voyage also explores Spitsbergen and Jan Mayen Island, with European astronauts as guest speakers.
