Navratri 2024 Havan Vidhi: Significance

Navami Homa is considered highly auspicious as it takes place on the ninth day of Navratri, a day devoted to the worship of Goddess Durga in her fierce form. Performing Homa on this day ensures the blessings of the goddess, granting protection, health, and victory over adversities.

This Homa is particularly recommended during the day, as it is believed that performing the ritual during nighttime does not yield the same fruitful results. For this reason, Navami Homa is conducted during the daytime, while the Navami Tithi is still active. The ideal time to perform the Homa is after the Navami Puja, ensuring that the rituals are complete and aligned with the appropriate timings.

Maha Navami 2024: Date, Time, and Significance

Navratri 2024 Havan Vidhi: How to Perform?

  • Preparation: The ritual begins with the recitation of 700 verses from the Durga Saptashati while offering aahuti (offerings) into the sacred fire at the end of each verse. This can take 2 to 3 hours, so it's important to plan accordingly to perform the Homa fully and with devotion.
  • Choosing the Right Time: If Navami Tithi extends into the earlier hours of Ashtami, the Navami Homa can be performed on Ashtami itself. In such cases, the Homa should start during Ashtami Tithi and continue as the Tithi transitions into Navami, but it must be completed before sunset.
  • Duration and Chanting: Since the Homa involves chanting the Durga Saptashati and offering aahuti after every verse, the ritual is time-intensive. Therefore, it’s important to have enough time available for this sacred task.
  • Multiple Tithis: If the Navami Tithi overlaps with Ashtami Tithi, the Drik Panchang suggests performing the Homa during Ashtami while the Navami Tithi begins. This ensures that the auspiciousness of both days is honored.
