The Mahakumbh has always been a spiritual and cultural phenomenon, drawing millions of devotees daily to the holy Sangam for sacred baths. However, this year, an unusual figure has captured the attention of devotees and onlookers alike—Abhay Singh, famously known as “IIT Baba.”
Abhay Singh, a graduate from one of India’s most prestigious institutions, IIT, became a topic of fascination at the Juna Akhada, where he had been residing for several days before mysteriously disappearing. His sudden absence triggered a flurry of discussions on social media. Adding to the intrigue, a video of IIT Baba dancing enthusiastically to the bhajan “Mera Bhola Bada Bhola Hai” recently went viral. The video, reportedly shot at the Juna Akhada, shows Abhay Singh dancing alongside another sadhu, although the exact date of the footage remains unclear.

According to Someshwar Puri, Abhay Singh has shown immense dedication to spiritual practices and is currently on a transformative path. “With the guru’s blessings and proper initiation, he will learn to control his spiritual energies and could emerge as a significant figure in the ascetic world,” said Puri. This belief inspired him to bring Abhay Singh to the Mahakumbh, envisioning his journey toward becoming a revered saint.
The viral video and IIT Baba’s intriguing story have sparked widespread curiosity, blending the worlds of intellect and spirituality.
