According to the scriptures, those who observe a fast and worship Lord Vishnu on this day are believed to attain eternal virtue. It is said to be especially beneficial for students, as beginning studies on this day is believed to bring deep knowledge. For those seeking wealth, the day is auspicious for bringing prosperity.

According to ancient legends, during their exile, the Pandavas and Draupadi were advised by Lord Krishna to observe the Anant Vrat (fast) to overcome their hardships and reclaim their lost kingdom. Observing the fast is believed to fulfil wishes and offer lasting rewards, both in this life and the next. For maximum spiritual and material benefits, devotees observe the Anant Vrat for 14 years.

The day is a time of devotion and fasting for Lord Vishnu’s devotees. The fast is observed throughout the day, and the Anant Sutra is tied on the arm as a symbol of divine protection.
