Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, new footage has surfaced, reportedly showing Iranian ballistic missiles, including hypersonic weapons, striking key Israeli targets, with some strikes allegedly hitting the Tel Nof Airbase near Tel Aviv. The footage, widely shared across social media, captures dozens of missiles lighting up the night sky before detonating on the ground, causing significant explosions and damage.

The Tel Nof Airbase, located about 27 kilometers southeast of Tel Aviv, is one of Israel’s primary military installations, hosting advanced fighter jets and missile defense systems. If confirmed, this would represent one of the most direct and severe attacks on Israeli military infrastructure in recent memory.

While Israeli officials have yet to release an official statement on the extent of the damage, reports suggest that Israel's Iron Dome defense system intercepted many of the incoming missiles. However, the overwhelming number of strikes led to some getting through, resulting in notable impacts on the ground.

Iranian state media, on Tuesday, reported that approximately 200 missiles were fired at Israel, including the debut use of hypersonic missiles in the conflict. These advanced missiles, which travel at extreme speeds in the lower atmosphere, are challenging to intercept, representing a major tactical escalation. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed that 90 percent of their missiles struck their intended targets, including three military bases around Tel Aviv.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the missile strikes, describing them as a "big mistake" and warning of significant repercussions.

According to an Axios report, Israeli officials have hinted at plans for a “significant retaliation” against Iran following Tuesday’s large-scale ballistic missile attack. Likely targets for the counterstrike are expected to include the Iranian oil industry, air defense systems, and other strategic military sites throughout Iran. Additionally, there may be targeted assassination strikes against key Iranian figures. Officials have warned that if Iran chooses to respond to Israel's retaliation, all options will be considered, which could encompass strikes aimed at Iranian nuclear facilities, stated the report.

The missile attacks have led to widespread panic across central Israel, with civilians in Tel Aviv and surrounding areas rushing to shelters. Public services and transportation have been temporarily suspended as the nation braces for follow-up strikes.

The international community, including the United Nations and several world powers, has called for immediate de-escalation.  The use of hypersonic missiles by Iran marks a new phase in the conflict, raising the stakes for both sides and for the stability of the region.
