Zomato considers increasing its word limit for orders after 'possib' birthday cake fiasco

A Mumbai man ordered a birthday cake via Zomato with some very specific instructions: "Send candle, write 'Happy Birthday Isha' or put a happy birthday sticker and write 'Isha' if possib".

And that's when the Zomato user, Gaurav, used up his word count in the instruction section of the app but he didn't think much of it. True, he couldn't complete "possible" but one could still understand the message, right?

Wrong.

Hilarity ensued when Gaurav found out that while the cake did have a birthday sticker, the icing on the cake read "Isha possib".

He then took to X to request Zomato increase its word limit in the app.

Responding to Gaurav's post, the food delivery service wrote, "Uh-oh, sweet moments turning sour? Not on our watch! We're now on a mission to save your day. Please private message us your order details and let's turn this frown into a foodie crown!" The issue was then resolved over a phone call, the company stated in a separate post.

Moreover, Zomato's social media managers said they'll check with the tech team if increasing the word count was "possib".

The incident, however, cracked up X users with many others sharing similar incidents of "comedy of errors", as a user put it.

"I too had a similar experience. We've written in a slip to write 'Happy birthday Arun'. Please write fonts in italics. We got the cake written 'Happy Birthday Arun - Font Italics'," commented Vignesh Viswanathan (@visvickey). Another X user Titanium (@tytaenium) said, "I asked them to put 'Happy Birthday, Father' as a joke for my dad, they put 'Father' and inserted a 'Happy Birthday' pin far away from it."
