Bollywood is mourning the loss of one of its most cherished stars as Dharmendra passed away this morning, just 14 days before his 90th birthday and a month before the release of his final film Ikkis. The veteran actor had been unwell for a long time and was receiving treatment at home, but his condition took a serious turn earlier this month.
A few days ago, Dharmendra was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after his health deteriorated sharply. Reports on November 10 suggested that he had been placed on a ventilator, raising alarm among fans and the industry. Though his wife Hema Malini and children Esha Deol and Sunny Deol issued statements saying he was responding to treatment, the actor’s condition remained fragile. He passed away quietly at home this morning, leaving the film world stunned.
Sunny Deol Performs the Final Rites
Sunny Deol carried out the last rites at a Mumbai crematorium, visibly shaken as he bid farewell to his father. The atmosphere was heavy with emotion as close family members gathered around him. Crowds of fans lined the street outside, hoping for one last glimpse of the man whose films shaped generations. Many were seen holding posters, flowers and photographs, capturing the deep bond Dharmendra shared with the public.
Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Others Pay Their Respects
Several leading names from the film industry arrived to pay tribute. Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Shatrughan Sinha and other senior actors were among the early visitors. Their presence reflected Dharmendra’s far-reaching influence, not just as an actor but as a colleague known for his warmth, generosity and respectful nature.
Karan Johar’s Emotional Tribute
Karan Johar posted a heartfelt message on social media, calling Dharmendra’s passing “the end of an era”. He praised his legacy and described him as one of the kindest men to grace the industry, a sentiment echoed by many others online.
His Final Film Arrives Next Month
Dharmendra was last seen in Teri Baatein Mein Aisa Ulja Jiya. His upcoming film Ikkis, where he plays the father of Agastya Nanda, is slated for release on December 25, 2025. The film now carries an added emotional weight as his final on-screen appearance.
