Author Ann Coulter has been accused of racism after she told Indian-American Republican leader Vivek Ramaswamy that she would not have voted for him because he is “an Indian.” The interaction took place during an episode of Ramaswamy’s “Truth Podcast” Ramaswamy, who ended his US presidential bid in January this year, later addressed the controversial remarks in a post shared on X.
Footage of the Coulter’s controversial take has been widely shared online. In the clip, she first told Ramaswamy: “You are so bright and articulate—and I guess I can call you articulate since you’re not an American Black, can’t say that about them, that’s derogatory.” The Indian-American leader smiled at this remark.
Coulter then went on to comment on Ramawamy’s Indian descent. She said that though she agreed with many things he said during his failed campaign for the 2024 Republican nomination, she still would not have voted for him.
“I agree with many, many things you say probably more than most other candidates. But I still would not have voted for you because you're an Indian,” Coulter said.
.@AnnCoulter told me flat-out to my face that she couldn’t vote for me “because you’re an Indian,” even though she agreed with me more than most other candidates. I disagree with her but respect she had the guts to speak her mind. It was a riveting hour. The TRUTH podcast is back https://t.co/neVjKSs6e9— Vivek Ramaswamy (@VivekGRamaswamy) May 8, 2024
