The infamous Bengaluru traffic has caused frustration to many travelling from one location to another at different hours of the day. The traffic situation in the city showed its ugly side again when New Zealand cricketer Daryl Mitchell's family got stuck in congestion on their way to the team hotel.
Addressing the media ahead of their crucial group stage clash against Pakistan on Saturday, the 32-year-old batter said that his wife and two kids got stuck in the Bengaluru traffic while coming to the team hotel on Thursday.
"Yeah, first on the traffic, my family arrived, my two little girls and my wife arrived last night and they got stuck in the traffic coming to the hotel, so we know about that," Mitchell said on Friday.
New Zealand have been hit by a lot of injuries before the game, but Mitchell felt that the side's togetherness was one of their strengths and they will put their best foot forward on Saturday. "One thing we do as Kiwis is we stay pretty grounded. We stay where our feet are, and injuries are things that we can't control. All I know is that the 11 guys that will take the field tomorrow will be very proud to represent our country and get stuck in a World Cup," Mitchell said.
The batter has had an excellent ODI World Cup so far and scored 346 runs in seven matches at an average of 69.20 with a century against India at Dharamsala. New Zealand are currently in fourth place on the points table, with four wins and three losses after seven matches.
