Congress leader and retired India cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu introduced his would-be daughter-in-law to his Twitter family. Sidhu tweeted pictures from a recent family trip that coincided with the occasion of Durga Ashthami.

In the photos, Sidhu was with his wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu, daughter Rabia Sidhu, son Karan Sidhu, and the newest addition to the family, Inayat Randhawa, who is set to marry Karan. The two have exchanged promise bands, he announced.

"The son honours the most cherished desire of his beloved mother… On this auspicious Durga Ashtami day in the lap of mother Ganges, a new beginning, introducing our would-be daughter-in-law Inayat Randhawa. They exchanged promise bands," Sidhu wrote on Twitter and shared pictures.

His followers responded with congratulatory messages for the couple. One person exclaimed, "Wow, what an incredible moment. Heartiest congratulations!" Another user chimed in, describing the Sidhu family as "spiritual, bold, honest, patriotic, loving, and truly secular," and extending their blessings to the young couple.

Sidhu was released from jail earlier this year after serving a 10-month term related to a road-rage incident that occurred 34 years ago, resulting in the death of Gurnam Singh.

The 59-year-old former President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee is known for his witty one-liners and several television appearances.
