Despite facing a wave of online trolling after photos of them sharing a passionate kiss on a yacht went viral two days ago, neither former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau nor singer Katy Perry has publicly commented on them.
The Daily Mail published images showing a shirtless Trudeau kissing Perry on her 24-metre yacht, the Caravelle, off the coast of Santa Barbara, California. The photos reignited speculation about their rumored relationship, which first surfaced in July when the duo were spotted dining together in Montreal. Trudeau also attended Perry’s Lifetimes Tour concert in Canada shortly after.
Trolling over political past and personal life
Social media users were quick to weigh in, with criticism largely tied to Trudeau’s political legacy and personal controversies. “What kind of guy JustinTrudeau is? He is not sincere to his wife and kids even. Leave the country which he left in tatters. Shameless,” wrote one user on X.
Another quipped, “Nobody is having more insufferable conversations than the ones Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau are having,” while a third mocked, “One pretended to be a prime minister. Other one pretended to be an astronaut.”
Some comments focused on accountability: “I couldn’t care less who Trudeau is dating. What bothers me is this guy ruined the lives of millions, pushed hatred towards a group of Canadians, was found guilty of violating Canadians Charter of Rights & Freedoms and he’s out there living his best life like none of it matters anymore.”
Others dismissed the uproar: “Am I the only one who doesn’t care who Justin Trudeau kisses or dates?? It’s none of my business and there are many other bigger issues to worry about.”
End of 18-year marriage
Trudeau announced his separation from Sophie Grégoire Trudeau in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage. The former couple share three children. He resigned as Canadian PM and Liberal Party leader in January following months of declining poll numbers and internal party pressure.
