Vita advised fellow users to reconsider their living arrangements and stay with their families instead of moving out for the sake of independence.

Mumbai's housing market continues to be a major challenge for residents, with soaring prices making it increasingly difficult to find affordable rental accommodations. Recently, a post by an X user, Vita, who is a lawyer, highlighted the steep costs and sparked a widespread discussion online.

In her tweet, Vita pointed out the exorbitant prices for 1 BHK apartments in prime locations of Mumbai, which can range from Rs 50,000 to 70,000 per month. She advised fellow users to reconsider their living arrangements and stay with their families instead of moving out for the sake of independence.

"One can get 1 BHK for Rs 50,000-70,000 in Mumbai. Be on good terms with your mom and dad, no need to rush out of your house to be independent," she wrote.

The tweet quickly went viral, triggering a lively debate. Many users shared their own experiences and struggles with the high cost of living in Mumbai, while others offered suggestions for more affordable localities.

One user commented, "True, inflation is outpacing salaries at a very fast speed. Getting a house, good healthcare, and quality education without a big burden of loans seems like an impossible dream to many."

"TBH, 50-70k 1BHK shouldn't be the only reason for living with mom and dad," added a third user.

A fourth user questioned, "Is this 70k rent or EMI? Wouldn't surprise me if it was either. My friend is paying Rs 1 lakh rent for a 3BHK in Andheri."

Another user voiced their frustration, "The only reason I want to move out of this city. That commute is way too much and I can't afford this rent on my own."

Highlighting the disparity in income and living costs, one user noted, "Mumbai is nearing 1/2 New York rates at 1/20th per capita income of New York. Businesses need to actively look to set up near Thane, Navi Mumbai, etc."

"My whole strategy for saving money is this only," added another user, resonating with Vita's advice to stay with family.
