Mahesh Manjrekar's former wife has died

Actor and director Mahesh Manjrekar's first wife, Deepa Mehta, has tragically passed away. Mahesh Manjrekar and Deepa Mehta’s son, Satya Manjrekar, confirmed the news of his mother’s death on his social media.

Satya took to his Instagram Story and shared a throwback picture of Deepa Mehta with an emotional message. Alongside the photo, he penned in the caption, “I miss you mumma.” Tributes started pouring in soon after the news of her death was confirmed.

For the unversed, Mahesh Manjrekar married costume designer Deepa Mehta in 1987. The two had been together since their college years. They welcomed two kids together, a daughter, Ashwami Manjrekar and a son, Satya.

However, they divorced in 1995 after a difficult period in their marriage. Ashwami and Satya remained with their father, Mahesh Manjrekar. The former couple’s kids have followed Mahesh’s footsteps and made their careers in acting.

Following the divorce, Mahesh Manjrekar tied the knot with actress Medha Manjrekar. The couple share a daughter named Saiee Manjrekar, who made her debut in Bollywood with her father in Salman Khan's Dabangg 3.

For the unversed, Deepa was a business owner and ran a saree brand called Queen of Hearts. Her saree brand is highly sought-after in both Bollywood and the Marathi film industry.

Meanwhile, Mahesh Manjrekar is known for his roles in popular Bollywood movies like Vaastav: The Reality (1999), Astitva (2000) and Viruddh... Family Comes First (2005). He has won a National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi for Astitva and two Star Screen Awards. The actor also hosts Bigg Boss Marathi.
