A Korean woman found herself in a terrifying ordeal in the heart of Hong Kong as a man, likely South Asian, assaulted and groped her during a late-night Twitch stream. As the clock neared midnight, May, the streamer, was waiting at a tram stop in the Central area when a stranger approached her asking for directions. What began as a seemingly innocent conversation took a sinister turn.

Initially, the stranger approached May seeking information about tram routes. The conversation began amicably and May was to take the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) instead of trams as they came fewer by the minute. The man inquired about directions to his home in Kennedy Town, and May offered to guide him.

After a long conversation and checking details on the internet, May said that since trams are not available, they both could take the train. She offered to help him and asked him to follow her to the train station.

This is where things went haywire. As he walked with her he put his arm around her. She rebuffed his advances even as he tries to hold her arm.

May, uncomfortable but smiling, tries to get his arm off her saying, “OK, OK, OK.”

“Listen, come with me,” he tells her as he continuously tries to touch her.

“Oh, please don’t hurt my arm,” she says as he continues grabbing her. She cries out, “No, no, no, no, no” but the man would not budge.

The situation escalated as they entered the MTR station. The man cornered May, forcibly touching her waist and chest, and even planting an unwanted kiss on her.

She cries for help trying to get out of his grip saying "I am not alone" throughout this horrifying ordeal. Her livestream continued to broadcast the harrowing incident with commenters saying she should run or shout for help.

A man finally passes by when the assaulter flees as May thanks the bystander for his timely intervention.

Despite the man's face being exposed on camera, May refrained from filing a police report out of fear of retaliation and him finding her location out and tracking her down.

However, the Hong Kong police have arrested a 46-year-old suspect on Tuesday but details of the assaulter have not been made public.

After the incident, May travelled to Macau, where she shared her ordeal on another livestream, showing the bruises she sustained during the attack.

Despite the trauma, she maintained that the incident wouldn't deter her from returning to Hong Kong in the future. "That's the guy's fault. It's not Hong Kong's fault," she asserted during the broadcast.

Concerned viewers of the stream even tracked down who the assaulter could be with a Twitter account claiming it was an Indian-origin man called Amit Jariyal, a native of Himachal Pradesh, who previously worked at a restaurant in Hong Kong but police have not yet confirmed any details.
