An Indigo passenger has shared her terrible experience with the airline after finding a screw in her in-flight sandwich. Jyoti Rautela claims she took an Indigo flight from Bengaluru to Chennai on February 1 and bought a spinach corn cheese sandwich onboard.
Rautela saved the sandwich for later so she could have it after the flight. However, when she bit into the sandwich after landing at Chennai, the footwear designer was shocked to find a large metal screw inside.
“In an era of tight security where we're checked down to removing our leather belts and shoes (which I applaud) how does a screw end up in an edible item, almost 30,000 ft above ground?” she asked in a LinkedIn post where she shared a picture of the screw inside her sandwich.

Rautela says she was travelling with two colleagues who were eyewitnesses to the whole incident. Urged by other Reddit members to report the matter to Indigo, she said she had already provided the low cost airline with all the details, including her PNR and the “exact features of the airhostess that served the sandwich.”
“I'll be content even if they come back with a response of how they are sorry and the apology indeed is after taking proper action, but the executive who talked to me has just made me angrier,” she said. Rautela also added that she has written to the DGCA, the airport authority and other “concerned big people” about the matter but has yet to hear back from any of them.
