Ekagrah Rohan Murty, the 17-month-old grandson of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy, is set to receive Rs 3.3 crore from the company’s final dividend for the financial year ending March 2025, making him one of India’s youngest millionaires.
Born in November 2023 in Bengaluru, Ekagrah is the son of Rohan Murty and Aparna Krishnan, and the third grandchild of Narayana Murthy and Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murty. His cousins, Krishna and Anoushka, are the daughters of Akshata Murty and former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
Ekagrah currently holds 15 lakh shares in Infosys, representing a 0.04 percent stake in the IT services giant. These shares were gifted to him by Narayana Murthy when he was just four months old. At the time of the gift in March 2024, the stake was valued at over Rs 240 crore.
On Thursday, April 17, Infosys declared a final dividend of Rs 22 per share. Given Ekagrah’s 15 lakh shares, the dividend will amount to Rs 3.3 crore. With this payout, his total dividend earnings for the current financial year rise to Rs 10.65 crore. Earlier in the year, he had received Rs 7.35 crore through interim dividends declared by the company, which cumulatively amounted to Rs 49 per share.
The record date for determining eligible shareholders is set as 30 May, and the dividend will be paid on June 30, as confirmed by Infosys in its exchange filing.
Several other members of the Murthy family—who form part of the Infosys promoter group—also stand to earn substantial amounts from the final dividend. Narayana Murthy himself is expected to receive Rs 33.3 crore, while his wife Sudha Murty will receive Rs 76 crore. Their daughter Akshata Murty, who owns 3.89 lakh shares representing a 1.04 percent stake, is set to earn Rs 85.71 crore.
Infosys, which began operations in 1981 with a modest investment of Rs 10,000, has grown to become one of India’s leading technology companies. Sudha Murty, who initially supported the company’s foundation with her personal savings, went on to lead the Infosys Foundation for over 25 years before retiring in December 2021. She continues to be active in philanthropy through her family’s charitable work and was recently nominated to the Rajya Sabha.
